Our guests’ well-being and peace of mind to be able to safely experience the space, tranquillity, and beauty that our corner of paradise provides is of the utmost importance to us. It is with a great sense of relief and gratitude that none of us at Treks, Trips & Trails have, thus far, had to personally experience the effects of COVID and we are now especially pleased that our staff have all been given, and have taken up, the opportunity to be vaccinated.
So now with all of us vaccinated, the sun shining, Spring in the air, and the return of the swallows – always a happy occurrence – there is no better time to come, unwind and relax for as long as you can here at Treks, Trips & Trails.
Our weather has a habit of catching everyone off guard and the last weekend of this winter was no exception. As widely forecast to happen the word ‘snow’ was on everyone’s lips – many South African families have a special relationship with this cold, wet stuff! However imagine the disappointment to the many ‘snow hunters’ when the beginning of the weekend turned out to be just rainy, misty, and cold – generally not conducive for a ‘happy kids’ day.
Then – wow – Sunday dawned in the Drakensberg with not a cloud in the sky but an awesome winter wonderland with snow-covered Cathkin and Champagne Castle peaks decked out in white all the way down to the Little’ Berg. Bringing much fun and delight, with oohs and aahs from so many little people seeing snow for the first time with some of them actually getting to feel and play in it. Another perfect day in the Drakensberg.
However, the weather still had a trick or two in store for anyone who had not hurried here on Sunday. Monday dawned, as clear as Sunday, but not a vestige of snow remaining – it had all melted! Check out this side by side video comparison:
