A working holiday doesn’t have to be all work and no play! You also want to visit a place that offers plenty of fun activities for when you are not stuck tapping away at your computer. For those looking for company or a change of scenery, the Central Drakensberg area offers a variety of coffee shops, restaurants, and even a brewery where you can get out, and even meet some new people.
For the active holidaymaker, a number of sports and outdoor activities, and adventures await! The Drakensberg area has plenty of mountain biking and hiking trails to keep the body active and energised, while you will also find a variety of golf courses nearby. For those who seek an adrenaline rush, you will also find quadbiking, ziplining, scootouring, and more within easy reach of Treks, Trips and Trails. You could also extend your ‘flexcation’ with a few nights visiting some of the other attractions of the region such as one of the many wildlife reserves within easy reach of our property.
Take the family to the Drakensberg
With school schedules turned upside down and homeschooling on the rise, we understand that it’s unlikely you’ll be travelling alone. Thankfully, the Drakensberg offers the ideal holiday choice for families. This area offers a safe, easy lifestyle that makes it the perfect spot to getaway with the little ones in tow. Our self-catering accommodation options easily have enough room for the entire family and offer a cozy space where children can easily be cared for. Our onsite rock pool will also provide hours of entertainment for the young ones when they are done with their homework for the day.
While you work, your children can also experience some awesome walks, visit wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centres, or even be inspired by the angelic voices of the Drakensberg Boy’s Choir.
The digital future of tourism
In order to claw back some of the tourists to South Africa, the government is looking to introduce a new remote working visa for visitors. When implemented, this new visa will offer an opportunity for international tourists to extend their holiday in the country while working virtually for companies back home. This will make long-term stays more affordable as more destinations look to attract this new type of traveller to their destinations. While this is great news for international travels, it does mean that locals need to take advantage of these spots and amazing rates while they still can!
